Baseline Test
The first thing we want to do is to find out what your present Reading Effectiveness (R.E.) level is. We will be measuring both your Speed and
your Comprehension/Recall. This is done by having you read a 400-word essay, and then answering ten, fill-in-the-blank questions. Then you will repeat the same steps again. At that point the tests will be corrected, and we'll determine your Speed and R.E.
When reading the essay, please read for comprehension. Do not try to go fast. Read at your normal
speed, knowing there will be questions to answer when you've finished. Do not look at the questions for the essay until that step. You may not take notes; you must work from your memory only. You
cannot look at your first set of answers during the second test.
The next section is SCORING. You do not score your tests until you have completed both
